THE CENTER FOR PLACE, CULTURE & POLITICS AT THE CUNY GRAD CENTER The Center for Place, Culture and Politics is an interdisciplinary center providing an exciting intellectual forum for the discussion of a wide range of vital contemporary issues. The center's name and focus express the fact that at the beginning of the twenty-first century, questions of space and place have come to play a crucial role in the public culture. Many of the most pressing political issues today - globalization and homelessness, environmental change and the future of nation states, cyberculture and the transnational flows of goods, people and contraband - occupy the nexus between place, culture and politics. The ambition of the Center is to become an eminent intellectual and public nucleus for these kinds of issues. The Center for Place, Culture & Politics at the CUNY Grad Center is a co-host of the entire conference in NY. web.gc.cuny.edu/pcp/index.html |
ARMENIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF AMERICA - EASTERN REGION The Armenian National Committee (ANC) is dedicated to advancing the concerns of Armenian-Americans, the foremost of which is achieving recognition of the Armenian Genocide, often referred to as the first modern genocide of the 20th century. In light of the Turkish government's campaign to have U.S. media organizations as well as government officials deny the genocide, the ANC strives to oppose revisionist agendas, which either out of racist or other unscrupulous motives, defame a people through attempting to negate the historicity of its mass victimization. The ANCA-Eastern Region is a cosponsor of Robert Fisk's plenary lecture in NY and the public forum in Boston featuring Fisk and Chomsky. www.anca.org |
