Part II Broadband | Dialup
Robert Fisk of the British based The Independent and David Barsamian of Alternative Radio will form a panel on War, Propaganda and the Media. This panel will explore how major media outlets have become mouthpieces for the governments and dominant private interests the press is suppose to monitor for the public good. Focusing on U.S. coverage of the Middle East, Fisk and Barsamian will explain how newspapers like the New York Times and programs like National Public Radio are presenting an increasingly partisan version of reality, which suits the agenda of the ruling elite. They will discuss exceptional examples, in which journalists have avoided becoming embedded with armies or beholden to corporate boardrooms, and have remained committed to identifying and critically evaluating the centers of power and their aggressive schemes.
